Simulated Tree Cycle
Sculptural Installation
2002
This is a permanent site-specific installation from 2002 residing at the Woodstock School of Art’s sculpture garden, located in Woodstock, NY. The copper pipe structure was built into a decaying tree stump. Bluestone, moss and pine tree saplings were gathered from the surrounding forest and to create a base. The trees are meant to grow around the sculpture and eventually overtake it, perhaps even destroy it. As of 2008, there are many ferns and trees growing inside the center of the moss bed and the trees have nearly reached the top of the sculpture. Soon the sculpture will be consumed by the trees.
